Gas-Phase Selective Oxidation of Methane into Methane Oxygenates

چکیده
Methane is an abundant resource and its direct conversion into value-added chemicals has been attractive subject for efficient utilization. This method can be more than the present energy-intensive indirect of methane via syngas, a mixture CO H2. Among various approaches conversion, selective oxidation oxygenates (e.g., methanol formaldehyde) particularly promising because it proceed at low temperatures. Nevertheless, due to product yields this challenging. Compared with liquid-phase partial methane, which frequently demands strong oxidizing agents in protic solvents, gas-phase some merits, such as possibility using oxygen oxidant ease scale-up owing use heterogeneous catalysts. Herein, we summarize recent advances oxygenates, focusing mainly on formaldehyde methanol.

9. Significance of Anaerobic Methane Oxidation in Methane-rich Sediments Overlying the Blake Ridge Gas Hydrates
A unique set of geochemical pore-water data, characterizing the sulfate reduction and uppermost methanogenic zones, has been collected at the Blake Ridge (offshore southeastern North America) from Ocean Drilling Program (ODP) Leg 164 cores and piston cores. The δ13C values of dissolved CO2 (ΣCO2) are as 13C-depleted as –37.7‰ PDB (Site 995) at the sulfate-methane interface, reflecting a substan...
متن کاملAnaerobic methane oxidation and denitrification as methane sink
Early social exposure is important for developing appropriate, species-specific adult behaviors. Carson Murray et al. (pp. 18189–18194) followed wild chimpanzees, habituated to human observers, in Gombe National Park, Tanzania, and analyzed maternal subgrouping patterns to investigate why adult males tend to be more gregarious than adult females. Mothers accompanied by their sons were more greg...
متن کاملAnaerobic methane oxidation in low-organic content methane seep sediments
Sulfate-dependent anaerobic oxidation of methane (AOM) is the key sedimentary microbial process limiting methane emissions from marine sediments and methane seeps. In this study, we investigate how the presence of low-organic content sediment influences the capacity and efficiency of AOM at Bullseye vent, a gas hydrate-bearing cold seep offshore of Vancouver Island, Canada. The upper 8 m of sed...
متن کاملGas-phase activation of methane by ligated transition-metal cations.
Motivated by the search for ways of a more efficient usage of the large, unexploited resources of methane, recent progress in the gas-phase activation of methane by ligated transition-metal ions is discussed. Mass spectrometric experiments demonstrate that the ligands can crucially influence both reactivity and selectivity of transition-metal cations in bond-activation processes, and the most r...
متن کاملMethane oxidation by Nitrosomonas europaea.
Methane inhibited NH4+ utilization by Nitrosomonas europaea with a Ki of 2mM. O2 consumption was not inhibited. In the absence of NH4+, or with hydrazine as reductant, methane caused nearly a doubling in the rate of O2 uptake. The stimulation was abolished by allylthiourea, a sensitive inhibitor of the oxidation of NH4+. Analysis revealed that methanol was being formed in these experiments, wit...
